SGS Engineering was established in 2003 commencing with manufacturing gas struts that could be built to an exacting standard, value for money and distributed quickly over the internet. Instead of waiting weeks for an imported gas strut, SGS customers expect their strut delivered next day and to specification. Although our product ranges have grown over the years, the underlying principle has stayed the same; high quality products, delivered quickly with an excellent UK based customer service team.

We now stock a vast range of branded power tools including Milwaukee, DeWalt, Kress, Evolution and Bosch and we have extended our range of garden and outdoor equipment to include Stiga, Mountfield, Einhell, Karcher, as well as our own brand garden equipment which we are expanding each season.

SGS design and produce NitroLift gas struts in our UK manufacturing facility based in Derby. We’re the leading manufacturer of gas struts in the UK and that’s due in no small part to our commitment to high quality products, delivered quickly and with unparalleled customer support. With our experience in precision engineering our own product range has grown over the years from just car gas struts. We now supply gas struts for several uses, beds, outdoor bars. kitchens, horse trailers, and mobile homes/caravans. In fact, anything that requires a slow closing/opening device which can be pressurised here at SGS. We even now stock Tesla gas struts and electronic struts and also now sell dampeners as we move with the times.

Increasing our range of own-brand products means we can closely control the supply and manufacturing process, enabling us to offer a quality range of products at consistently low prices. We’re constantly testing and improving our range with the help of our dedicated Derby based R&D team.

The London Underground is the worlds oldest underground rail system and has carried over a billion passenger. SGS NitroLift gas struts have been used in storage receptacles within the complex tube system.

SGS high performance gas struts were used as part of a canopy for the JCB Dieselmax. This car holds the world diesel-powered land speed record and has been driver over 350 miles per hour.

SGS has worked with the new Wembley Stadium providing SGS NitroLift gas struts or skylights within the famous stadium. With 90,000 seats, Wembley is the largest stadium in the UK and second largest in Europe.

The BT tower is an iconic part of the London skyline, rising 177 meters high. The maintenance hatches towards the top of the tower sport our British made, NitroLift gas struts.

We perform pre-delivery inspections on majority of the products we send out from our warehouses, meaning a trained technician has evaluated the product before it reaches you. Regardless of what you order from us, you can always feel confident the product will arrive promptly and ready for years of reliable service.

We operate our own Trade Counter in Derby which is open Monday to Friday 7am -5pm. At the moment we are closed weekends and Bank Holidays. You can click and collect web orders from here or just pop in to browse our ranges and seek expertise advice from our Sales and Technical teams. We will even manufacture gas struts and support fitting while you wait.

We sell products to the rail industry, offshore oil and utilities businesses where specialist solutions are required. As well as being an authorised repair centre for this specialist engineering solutions provider, we have in house experts for all the technical, support and sales advise you could require.
