About the STIHL MSA 300 Cordless Chainsaw (Shell Only)
The MSA 300 is STIHL’s most powerful cordless chainsaw, making it ideal for professional jobs in forestry, arboriculture and landscaping.
Boasting three different operating modes to optimise performance, this battery-powered chainsaw is ergonomically designed to make your most demanding jobs a pleasure rather than a chore.
(Please note that as this particular product is only the tool’s shell, it does not include the battery or charger.)
Overview of the STIHL MSA 300 Battery Chainsaw
Made for heavy-duty professional use, this high-powered chainsaw weighs 4.5 kg, without the battery. Including a 3 kW (4 hp) motor and 0.325-inch RS Pro saw chain, it has an impressive maximum chain speed of 30 m/s, which will maximise the amount of cutting from each battery charge.
Boasting intuitive controls and plenty of torque too, the IPX4-rated MSA 300 can be operated safely and effectively in any weather conditions, including rain.
This battery chainsaw comes with a choice of three guide bars: 14 inches (35 cm), 16 inches (40 cm), and 18 inches (45 cm).
Three Operating Modes
The MSA 300 has three operating modes: Eco, Felling and Delimbing. By matching the mode to the task in hand, this helps you maximise the battery’s running time.
Eco has a maximum chain speed of 20 m/s, so is designed for less intensive tasks.
With a maximum chain speed of 24 m/s, the Felling mode uses the highest possible torque at a reduced chain speed, helping you saw as evenly and powerfully as possible.
Delimbing boasts a maximum chain speed of 30 m/s, making it ideal for exceptionally high-precision cutting.
A Bright LED Display
Along with the selected operating mode, this chainsaw’s bright LED display allows you to check the status of the chain brake and see if the engine needs time to cool.
FULL Anti-Vibration System
The MSA 300 is the first STIHL cordless chainsaw to feature a FULL anti-vibration system. Therefore, it boasts the lowest vibration figures across STIHL’s entire range of rear-handle chainsaws.
Performance Electronics with Derating Function
This cordless chainsaw also includes STIHL’s Derating function, which provides you with two major benefits.
Firstly, by reducing the electrical current, it helps protect the chainsaw from overheating.
Secondly, it notifies you if the battery is about to run out, by reducing the chainsaw’s power. The beauty of this feature is that it gives you time to finish any cuts you’ve already started, before the engine stops.
The MSA 300 Chainsaw’s Fleece Filter
The MSA 300’s fleece filter keeps even very fine dust and dirt particles away from the electronics, ensuring your chainsaw maintains a consistently high level of performance, even when carrying out the most demanding of tasks.
This fleece filter is very easy to access when it needs a clean. Once removed, simply spray it with STIHL Varioclean, wait for 10 minutes, rinse with warm water, and then leave the filter to dry.
Ergonomically Designed for Superior Performance
This cordless chainsaw comes with a soft-grip rear control handle, making it particularly comfortable to use. In fact, you’ll find this soft material actually improves your grip on the chainsaw, particularly in wet conditions.
With your safety and comfort further in mind, the front handle also features an ergonomic design. So, because of both handles’ comfortable, user-friendly shape, structure and positioning, you’ll automatically adopt a two-handed operating position, ensuring safer working practice and more precise cutting.
Connectivity Ready
The MSA 300 Battery Chainsaw is compatible with STIHL Smart Connector 2A, which you can purchase from us separately.
Once you’ve mounted the smart connector in the chainsaw’s housing, you can transmit valuable data from the tool to your smartphone, tablet or STIHL Connected Box, via the STIHL Connected App. This app also allows you to benefit from additional features.
The MSA 300 Chainsaw’s Other Key Features
The MSA 300’s other key features include captive sprocket nuts, an adjustable chain oil pump, a tool-free oil cap, and hardwearing magnesium components. This really is a ‘premium’ chainsaw, in every possible sense of the word.
Recommended Battery
The MSA 300 Chainsaw should only be used with a STIHL AP 500 S battery, which is STIHL’s most powerful AP System battery. It has a working time of between 20 and 44 minutes, depending on the operating mode used. And as this battery has STIHL Connected integrated into its housing, you can easily monitor its power level.
Designed with power laminate technology, the AP 500 S also boasts double the number of charging cycles of a typical STIHL AP System battery with cylindrical cells, which will give it lifespan of approximately 10 years.
STIHL Warranty
STIHL is amongst the world’s oldest and most-trusted manufacturers of handheld power equipment, making it a go-to brand for cordless chainsaws. A reassuring 2-year commercial warranty is included as standard with this MSA 300 model.
